Professor Srikantha Herath is a visiting professor at Toyama University’s Global Research Centre for Advanced Sustainability Science (GRASS) and Director of Enviforecasting. A Sri Lankan scholar based in Japan since earning his Dr Eng. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tokyo (1988), he brings over 40 years of international expertise in water resources, climate change assessment, and urban infrastructure systems. His distinguished academic career includes serving as Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo (1991–2002), Academic Director of Postgraduate Programs at the United Nations University (2002–2016), and leadership of the Colombo Urban Development Project (2016–2020). Professor Herath’s recent research focuses on transdisciplinary sustainability education, flood risk modelling, and climate forecasting applications. His work bridges policy and technical innovation across Asia, maintaining active research networks in Japan, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
