Professor Andreas Neef delivered a keynote address titled “Climate Mobility Justice: Understanding the Nexus of Human Mobility, Climate Change, Coloniality and Development” for the 13th Mobilities Aotearoa Symposium held online on 27 November, 2024.
The presentation discussed climate migration through both the global and Pacific Islands contexts. Neef argues that instead of framing climate migrants as passive victims, we need active solutions towards climate mobility justice, such as climate passports, radical hospitality, reparations, and establishing the right to remain.
