Graduated from the University of Tokyo (PhD in System Science). He worked at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES). He is afflicted as visiting scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Vienna) and Institute of Statistical Mathematics (ISM, Tokyo) and the University of Tokyo. He has served as Lead author for IPCC.
