Workshop on monsoon variability and extremes in a changing climate

Call for applications

The Global Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC), in collaboration with regional partners, is working on a project titled “Towards Robust Projections of Climatic Extremes and Adaptation Plans over South Asia” funded by APN.

Besides Pakistan, the project involves Bangladesh, China, and Nepal, United States, Japan, Brazil, and Korea who provide technical expertise and data. The project’s main goal is to create high-resolution regional/local future climate extremes data for impact, adaptation, and vulnerability studies in South Asian countries, as well as to equip students with the necessary training. In this context, the 2nd meeting and training workshop would be held in Islamabad, Pakistan, from October 12-14, 2021.

Objective

The workshop’s goal is to explore the latest research on Asian Summer Monsoon and give handon training to participants with the tools used in studies for monsoon.

Participation

The workshop is intended for students and early career researchers from Pakistan. Interested individuals should fill out the Google Form below to apply online.

To ensure gender balance, we promote female engagement at the same rate as male participation. The session will be held in English and there will be no registration fee. Students will be expected to bring their laptops to class.
