Consultative workshop on climate-smart agriculture practices in Gilgit, Pakistan

The Centre for Climate Research and Development (CCRD), COMSATS University Islamabad organized a one-day stakeholder consultative session under the APN funded project to identify climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices for farmers in the HKH region. While speaking to the workshop participants, researchers highlighted the effects of climate change on agriculture and suggested solutions to adopt climate-smart agricultural practices to reduce the impacts of climate change and enhance agricultural productivity for improved food security in the region. The workshop was attended by
>40 stakeholders from the agriculture department, EPA, academicians, climate experts, and farmers from the study area. The discussion points were noted to finalize the results on best CSA practices. The Government officials acknowledged the efforts of the project team and APN to initiate this project in the HKH, which would help as a guiding tool for policymaking at the local level keeping in view the fragility of the ecosystem and socioeconomic conditions of the farmers.
