Life-supporting Asia-Pacific Marine Ecosystems, Biodiversity and their Functioning

This book contains the results of investigations presented on the international conference held on April 26-28, 2017 in Qingdao, China, at the Institute of Oceanology CAS, which as devoted to the status of marine ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific seas.

The book summarizes the reported data on biodiversity, main physical conditions and functioning of taxa, communities and ecosystems under changing environments and the problems of their conservation and sustainable use. The book includes the synthesis of biological data concerning, in particular, the environmental conditions and issues of separate countries and regions, such as marine currents, sedimentation, eutrophication and pollution. Special attention is paid to policy making for science-based conservation, and rational use of marine ecosystems along the Asia-Pacific coasts.
