From 4 to 6 December 2024, the University of Otago held the DevNet 2024 Conference in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand. As a part of the broader conversation on global development, APN hosted a session titled “Integrated Approaches to Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainability in the Pacific Region.” The event featured expert-led sessions that discussed Pacific health systems, decolonisation of relationship building, and community management practices, among others.
Six presentations were showcased from the project team “Moving to remain in place: Micro-mobilities and circular migration as adaptive strategies to gendered climate risks in Fiji and Samoa” (CRRP2023-02MY-Neef). Their topics ranged from reimagining research methods for the Pacific context to understanding micro-mobilities and youth participation in producing climate knowledge.
