National Climate Change Public Awareness and Outreach in Sri Lanka

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established in 1988 due to the need for an international consensus on global warming issues. Third Assessemnt Report (TAR) of the IPCC (working groups II and III) discuss the impacts and adaptation of climate change and what measures could be taken to mitigate climate change. Raising awareness on climate change issues among policy-makers and civil society is so important to adapt and mitigate climate change and therefore 20 awareness seminars (one day) are proposed to conduct in 20 admisstrative districts in Sri Lanka for the policy-makers, private sector, NGOs and academic experts.
