Professor Wang Yi is Vice Director of the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering at North China Electric Power University, China. With over 20 years of expertise in climate change and hydro-climatology, her internationally focused career includes extended research engagements across >10 Asian countries and academic appointments at Japan’s University of Tokyo and United Nations University (2007–2011). Professor Wang’s technical leadership spans flood prediction, drought assessment, and hydropower optimisation, developed through roles as Project Manager at the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (2012–2014) and hydrologist for major multilateral projects (World Bank, ADB). She holds dual master’s training in Computer Engineering (Wuhan UT) and Water Resources (Wuhan University), complemented by a PhD in Environmental Hydrology from Japan’s Ehime University (2007) and JSPS postdoctoral research (the University of Tokyo, United Nations University). Her work bridges academic research with practical disaster resilience applications throughout Asia.
