Dr. Ho Huu Loc, is an Assistant Professor at Wageningen University’s Water Systems and Global Change Group (WSG). He specialises in eco-hydrology and leads multiple projects focusing on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to address water and food security in the Lower Mekong Region. Dr Loc is dedicated to integrating NBS knowledge into high school curricula in Southeast Asia, enhancing sustainability education.
Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), teaching Hydrodynamics, River Engineering, and Flood Modelling. He holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Kyoto University, Japan, and a master’s degree from AIT. His postdoctoral research at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, expanded his expertise in Sustainability, Geography, and Statistics.
Dr Loc’s interdisciplinary skills include river hydrology, flood risk management, numerical modelling, GIS, remote sensing, data analytics, and ecosystem services. He collaborates extensively across South and Southeast Asia, engaging with academia, NGOs, and government agencies. He is a guest editor for Remote Sensing and Land journal and a distinguished reviewer for Ecosystem Services and Journal of Environmental Management.
Dr Loc strives to advance sustainable water management practices in the Mekong Region and beyond through his research, education, and community engagement efforts.
