Professor Kirsten Benkendorff is the Director of Southern Cross University’s National Marine Science Centre. She is an interdisciplinary scientist with over 25 years’ experience in marine research and teaching. Prof. Benkendorff has made significant contributions using marine invertebrates as bioindicators and assessing the impacts of ocean climate chance and environmental contaminants on marine resources and ecosystems. She has won several awards including the Dorothy Hill Award for marine and earth science from the Australia Academy of Science. Prof. Benkendorff has extensive experience managing national and international collaborations, and has supervised 29 PhD students from 13 different countries to completion.
