Dr Hongwen Sun is a professor and former dean in the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Nankai University, and also the winner of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars. She graduated from the chemistry department of Nankai University in 1989 and got a PhD degree in 1994 from Nankai university. After that, she has served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Osaka University from 1999 to 2001.

Professor Sun is the author of numerous scientific publications in the field of environmental chemistry, environmental monitoring and human exposure of emerging organic pollutants, ecological remediation and so on. She has published a lot of important research results in Water Research, Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of hazardous materials, and Environment International. Now, she is serving as an editorial board member in Environmental Science & Technology, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and Environmental Geochemistry and Health.
