Dr Josette Garnier is a Research Director CNRS at the National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS) in the field of Biogeochemistry of River Basins. She is at the head of a large (18 labs) interdisciplinary research federation for the environment. She actively participated in the biogeochemical modelling development of land-to-sea aquatic continua. She contributed to understanding the cause of river and coastal zone eutrophication related to human activities. She is currently working with policymakers and stakeholders for alternative management options of the water-agro-food systems. She has much experience as a project leader of several national and European projects, co-edited special issues, supervised 25 PhD students.
