Venue and dates for APN 17th IGM/SPG Meetings announced

21 Dec 2011, Kobe, Japan – On behalf of Ms. Hermien Roosita, Executive Secretary, Ministry of Environment of Indonesia and APN national Focal Point for Indonesia, Dr. Akio Takemoto, APN Secretariat Director announced today the venue and dates for the upcoming 17th annual APN IGM/SPG Meetings.

With strong support from the Indonesian host, the joint Inter-Governmental Meeting (IGM) and Scientific Planning Group (SPG) Meeting will be held from 14 to 16 March 2012 at Hotel Shangri-La in Jakarta, Indonesia.

APN national Focal Points (nFPs) and SPG Members from its 22 member countries, observers from its partner organizations and other invited guests from the global change community will attend the Meetings, which will chart a detailed course for APN operational arrangements and activities in fiscal year 2012–2013.

Preparatory meeting with the host country organizer

Preparations for the IGM/SPG Meetings also officially kicked off today, following a visit on 28 November 2011 by Mr. Yukihiro Imanari, Executive Manager of the APN Secretariat to the Indonesian host  to discuss preparatory arrangements for the Meetngs. The draft timetable is taking form and will be circulated internally for comments soon.

Dr. Akio Takemoto expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ms. Roosita and the Ministry of environment of Indonesia for their generous offer to host the 17th IGM/SPG Meeting, and on behalf of APN, thanked the host country organizer for their strong commitment to organize a successful meeting in Jakarta.
