Upcoming Event: Workshop on Status of Climate Science and Technology in Asia

APN is collaborating with the Asian Network on Climate Science and Technology (ANCST) the International Council for Science Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ICSU-ROAP) and other key partners to enhance support for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is currently in its Sixth Assessment (AR6) cycle.

Correspondingly, ANCST, with support from the IPCC and other partners is convening a Workshop on Status of Climate Science and Technology in Asia on 15–16 November 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The primary aim is to set the stage for improving participation and coverage of scientific information and link authors working on the IPCC AR6 cycle to senior and early career scientists from the region, with focus on Central Asia, West Asia, Southeast Asia and the Hindu Kush Region (South Asia).

Mr Effendi Tandoko, MSc Sustainability student at the United Nations University and currently an APN Fellow, will deliver an oral presentation titled “Sustaining Climate-Impacted Terrestrial, Coastal, and Aquatic Ecosystems” under the session Climate Impacts and Ecosystems. In his presentation, he will share the work of his synthesis of APN project outputs from 2013-2018 with a focus on research and observation on climate impacts on the ecosystem and its services in the region. It is expected that the findings of the synthesis work can offer a potential contribution to the upcoming IPCC AR6. The final synthesis report will be published by the end of the year.
