Summer school at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Climate Extremes and Risk Management

21 October-1 November 2019, Nanjing — With the support from APN through project CBA2019-12SY-Jiang “Facilitating the attendance, interaction and training of young and developing nation scientists from Asia-Pacific at the WCRP Institute of Advanced Studies in Climate Extremes and Risk Management”, a summer school was held from 21 October to 1 November 2019 at the Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUIST), China. The educational event was jointly sponsored by the NUIST, World Climate Research Programme (WCRP), Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), the SysTem for Analysis, Research and Training (START) and other partners. More than 30 selected early career researchers and leading experts worked together, through lectures and daily practices, to deepen their understanding of past and future climate changes and uncertainty in projections.

The activity aimed at contributing to the advancement of the understanding of past and future changes in weather and climate extremes by training future leaders working in the field of climate research and disaster risk reduction.
