Secretariat Director visits Korea Environment Institute

3 September 2019, Sejong, Republic of Korea — Mr Gen’ichiro Tsukada, Director of the Secretariat, paid a courtesy call to Prof. Jeyong Yoon, President of the Korea Environment Institute (KEI), Republic of Korea (ROK). Mr Tsukada expressed his appreciation for the continuous contribution and support of KEI to APN, especially the contribution of Dr Soojeong Myeong (KEI Senior Research Fellow) as Scientific Planning Group (SPG) member of ROK and Co-Chair of the SPG. Prof. Yoon in return stressed the importance to enhance communication between ROK, Japan and other APN member countries, and across different groups and levels.

Following a presentation by the Secretariat to introduce APN, KEI researchers, an official of the Ministry of Environment of ROK and Mr Tsukada discussed on how to increase the engagement of Korean scientists and researchers in APN activities. Additionally, KEI researchers indicated that transboundary air pollution and microplastics are placed as the top priority in the environment policy of ROK.
