The CLIVAR Scientific Steering Group (SSG) and CLIVAR Panels are seeking nominations or self-nominations for new members to serve in CLIVAR panels from January 2017 (and from January 2018 for the SSG). New members will play a key role in driving CLIVAR’s scientific agenda onto the next decade.

When considering nominations, CLIVAR panels take into account the scientific expertise that will support fulfilment of the panel’s terms of reference and then seek endorsement from the CLIVAR SSG for the proposed new list of members. Scientifically qualified nominations that support gender and geographical balance and promote opportunities for early career scientists and researchers from developing countries to participate in CLIVAR activities are encouraged. Membership of CLIVAR Panels is usually on a rotating basis, with the initial term of service for members is three years and a possible extension of two years. The CLIVAR SSG meets every year, while other Panels meet approximately every 18 months.
