The APN congratulates Dr. Kazuhiko Takemoto on his recent appointment as Director of the new UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS).
Dr. Kazuhiko Takemoto is currently member of the APN Steering Committee, which acts on behalf of the principal decision-making organ, the IGM, during intersessional periods.
Most recently, he served as Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs in the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, and was responsible for developing national strategies for international negotiations on global environmental issues. Dr. Kazuhiko Takemoto has also served as APN’s national Focal Point for Japan, and Director of APN Secretariat.
The new Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) is being formed through consolidating the UNU Institute of Advanced Studies (established in 1996) and the UNU Institute for Sustainability and Peace (established in 2009), both based in Japan.
