Prof. Dr Win Maung is Chairman of the Myanmar Environment Institute and an ecologist with over 30 years of teaching and research experience in ecology and the environment. He received his PhD from Wuerzburg University in Germany. His work focuses on biodiversity, ecology and community development, including projects on Chindwin River basin management, community natural resource use and forest conservation around Alaungdaw Kathapha National Park, a Key Biodiversity Area. He has collaborated with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), Rutgers University and Cologne University.
