Bangkok, Thailand – From 1 – 3 July, 2026, APN conducted four courtesy calls with partner organisations ahead of the 27th Intergovernmental Meeting (IGM) held in Bangkok, Thailand. Discussion focused on the APN’s priorities of the Sixth Strategic Phase, with emphasis on identifying areas of mutual interest and cultivating further engagement with stakeholders in the next four years.
1 July 2026, Belmont Forum – APN joined the Plenary event at the Mandarin Hotel to better understand updates to Belmont Forum’s programmes. Such programmes include the Collaborative Research Action (CRA) review process for grants, Peer Community In (PCI) to review publication preprints and partnerships with the European Union. During the breakout sessions, conversation highlighted potential for organisations like APN to participate in future CRAs with the Belmont Forum through funding means.
2 July 2026, UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP-ROAP) – UNEP-ROAP and APN reviewed outputs from last year’s 9th Asia-Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) Forum. From there, the two organisations reflected on current activities related to APAN and preparations for the next Forum.
2 July 2026, Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia the Pacific (RCC Asia-Pacific) – Established in 2015, RCC Asia-Pacific is one of six Regional Collaboration Centres worldwide operationalised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). During the courtesy call, the organisation shared its recent activities supporting climate action in the region, from providing technical assistance to National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and more. The meeting concluded with both parties affirming their commitment to maintain close ties. Concrete steps to do so entail collaborating with the Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT) to share more information about climate adaptation and taking more steps together to engage with the Pacific subregion.
3 July 2026, Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific, Asia Institute of Technology (RRC.AP, AIT) – RRC.AP is a regional knowledge centre that’s been bridging science and policy to support environmental sustainability across Asia and the Pacific for more than 35 years. At the meeting with APN, Dr Guilberto Baguinon showcased impacts from three of the organisation’s programme clusters: Climate Change, Air Pollution, and Waste and Resource Management (WARM). Following the presentation, the two parties discussed areas for collaboration, including interest in submitting proposals for collaborative research to APN’s Annual Call for Proposals.
All four courtesy calls strengthened ties with APN’s closest partners in the Asia-Pacific region. APN also presented conclusions from its Fifth Strategic Phase (2020-2026) and shared outlines regarding the Sixth Strategic Plans (2026-2030). Beyond strategic roadmaps, the Secretariat also promoted APN’s Annual Call for Proposals for interested grant recipients.
