Saon Banerjee

Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya

Dr Saon Banerjee is Professor and Former-Head, Department of Agricultural Meteorology and Physics, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), West Bengal, India. He also holds the position of Agrometeorologist in the All India Coordinated Research Project on Agrometeorology (AICRPAM), Mohanpur Centre, operating under Directorate of Research, BCKV. His research field includes crop-weather relationship, agroclimatic characterization and climate change and dynamic crop simulation modelling. Prof. Banerjee has more than 21 years of experience in the field of Agrometeorological Research after completion of his Ph. D. Degree from IARI, New Delhi. He was the Principal Investigator of a number of projects funded by ICAR, ISRO, Ministry of Earth Science and Practical Action (UK). He was the respondent (Agriculture Section) in IPCC-AR 4 dissemination Workshop for South East Asia and a member of the prestigious BSMA committee (PG and Ph. D. syllabus restructuring committee) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Prof. Banerjee is the recipient of many prestigious awards like the IARI-Gold Medal, Metos Award, INSA Bilateral Exchange Programme Award to act as Visiting Scientist- the University of Edinburgh and CNPq-TWAS Post-Doc award.
