The 26th Joint Intergovernmental Meeting and Scientific Planning Group Meeting (IGM/SPG Meeting) and associated meetings, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, took place from 13-14 June 2024.
The meeting gathered representatives from APN member countries and partner organisations to review progress and set directions for the network. Key decisions included the approval ten Collaborative Regional Research Programme (CRRP) projects and seven Capacity Development Programme (CAPaBLE) projects for FY 2024, with a strong focus on early-career professional engagement.
The IGM endorsed the continuation of work on the 5th Strategic Phase mid-term evaluation, targeting finalisation by August 2024 and launched discussions on APN’s long-term financial sustainability, including co-funding strategies and partnerships with development agencies. New activities for FY 2024 were introduced, such as engagement with the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment cycle and enhanced regional cooperation workshops.
The meeting also confirmed the new Steering Committee members for 2024–2026, acknowledged outgoing members, and adopted a list of action points to guide APN’s future work.
The event highlighted APN’s commitment to advancing regional research, capacity building, and collaboration to address global change challenges across the Asia-Pacific region.
