This syllabus outlines the scope, guidelines, and requirements for the “Sustainable Agriculture” class offered by the Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry in 2024.
The course explored the principles and practices of sustainable agriculture. Students explored environmentally friendly and socially responsible approaches to food production, integrating concepts of climate smart agriculture. The course covered various sustainable and climate smart agricultural techniques including organic farming, permaculture, agroforestry, and regenerative agriculture. Topics such as soil health, water management, biodiversity conservation, crop rotation, integrated pest management, and sustainable livestock production were also integrated. Additionally, the course examined the economic, social, and ethical dimensions of sustainable agriculture, including its potential to enhance food security, adapt and mitigate climate change, and promote rural
development.
