Yuheng Li

Northeastern University

Dr Yuheng Li is a Professor at School of Humanities and Law, Northeastern University, China. He obtained a doctoral degree from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and completed postdoc researcher position at Stockholm School of Economics. Before joining Northeastern University, he worked as a rural geographer at Chinese Academy of Sciences.

His research concentrates in rural development in particular rural resilience and governance issues. So far, he has published 135 scientific articles many of which appeared in world-known journals such as Nature and Land Use Policy etc. Recently, Yuheng has edited a book titled “Global Perspectives on Building Resilience for Sustainable Rural Development” (Springer, 2025) in which scholars from 16 different countries shared their latest research. 

Prof Yuheng is now a guest professor at Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development, Polish Academy of Sciences. He serves as the deputy chair and secretary-general of the International Geographical Union (IGU) Commission on Agricultural Geography and Land Engineering, and he is also an associate editor of Journal of Rural Studies (SSCI-Q1).
