Xiaojun Deng

Deputy Head of Knowledge Management, Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research

Mr Xiaojun Deng is Deputy Head of Knowledge Management at the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), an intergovernmental network with its Secretariat hosted in Kobe, Japan. Currently, Xiaojun is responsible for managing, monitoring and promoting knowledge generated from APN activities across the Asia-Pacific region and ensuring its effective reach, uptake and impact, particularly among researchers, practitioners and policymakers. He also coordinates the publication of the APN Science Bulletin, a flagship web-based peer-reviewed publication published by APN and launched in 2011. As a practitioner of open access publishing and open source initiatives, Xiaojun believes in the power of open, tailored, science-based knowledge backed by information technology in advancing efforts towards a sustainable future by individuals, groups and institutions at all levels.

Before joining APN in 2011, Xiaojun was a public information consultant at the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a master’s degree from Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai, China.
