Dr Virasith PHOMSOUVANH joined APN on 17 June 2019 as a member of the Scientific Planning Group (SPG) and Southeast Asia Sub-Regional Committee (SEA-SRC). He is Deputy Director of Remote Sensing and Mapping (RSM), Natural Resources and Environmental Statistic and Research Institute (NRESRI), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Lao PDR. Dr Phomsouvanh currently is a member of Committee of Land Degradation Neutrality-Target Setting programme (LDN-TSP), United National Conservation to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) under Water Resources Department (WRD), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Lao PDR. Phomsouvanh was Lao National Expert in Climate Modelling and Flood Management under Flood Management and Mitigation Programme (FMMP), Mekong River Commission (MRC), and also a Lao National Expert in Remote Sensing & GIS under Land Cover 2009/2010, MRC. He, furthermore, was a member of the GIS committee of National Geography Department, Ministry of Affair, Prime Minister’s Office, Lao PDR. For researching, he was Assisting Focal Point of Space Application for Environment (SAFE) in Prototype of Forest Monitoring Management of Lao PDR. Phomsouvanh holds a Doctoral Degree in Geography at Depart of Geography, College of Social Sciences from Seoul National University, South Korea.
