Professor Nguyen Thi Lang, Director General, High Agricultural Technology Research Institute for Mekong delta, Vietnam (HATRI). A lead for Rice Research of National Area- Agriculture and Food Security. Prof. Lang’s accomplishments were recognized through several prestigious awards of Vietnam’s central and provisional governments, to mention a couple – Contribution to Agriculture Development (2005-2018) and Contribution to Women Development (2005-2016). Prof. Lang is a well-accomplished scientist whose contributions to the scientific community, global rice development, and food security are well recognized. Most of my salt, submergence, stagnant flood and acid sulfate tolerant varieties are helping farmers to cope with the adversities of climate change in the Mekong Delta, one of the most vulnerable areas in the world, with a high population density.
