Shobhit Singh

PhD student, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur

Mr. Shobhit Singh is pursuing his Ph.D. at the Department of Earth Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). His research primarily revolves around Hydro-geomorphology, particularly on applying remote sensing in fluvial geomorphology, soil erosion, sediment management, and flood risk reduction. He has worked on mountain-fed rivers like the Ganga and the Tawi Rivers, and his current research includes flood risk assessment in the Ghaghra river system.

Shobhit holds a Master’s degree from the Department of Earth Science at IIT Kanpur, where he distinguished himself through academic excellence. He has been actively involved in multiple projects that use drone technology and data analysis for diverse applications, such as terrain evaluation and river rejuvenation across various regions in India. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from REC Ambedkar Nagar, India.
