Dr S.P. Nissanka is a full professor in the Department of crop science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. . He has his expertise in agronomy, crop psychology, and climate change and its impacts on agriculture and forest ecosystems. Also, He is a recipient of presidential awards (Sri Lanka) for Scientific Publications in the years 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2012.

Prof. Nissanka has graduated with his BSc. in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and obtained PhD after his MSc in crop physiology from the University of Guelph, Canada.
