Salanieta Kitolelei

The University of the South Pacific - Fiji

Salanieta Kitolelei is an Indigenous Fijian PhD scholar at the University of the South Pacific whose research focuses on Fiji’s Indigenous and local knowledge of fishers. She is a recipient of the Pacific-European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) Scholarship and has extensive experience in carrying out research in local communities. She has a publishing background in social sciences, gender and Indigenous issues related to fishing in Fiji. She is also an alumnus of the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation’s (ITCILO) Global Youth Forum and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Women’s Leadership disaster risk reduction training programme. She is a current Pacific Islands Roundtable for Nature Conservation (PIRT) Nature/Culture Working Group member.
