Dr S. Paul Sebastian serves as Associate Professor (Environmental Sciences) at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. His expertise spans wastewater treatment and recycling for agriculture, solid waste management, soil and water quality analysis, bioremediation, and climate change mitigation. His research interests focus on production of hydrochar and biochar, their environmental applications, restoration of polluted soils, resource recovery from wastes, and microplastics remediation. He leads innovative research projects, including hydrochar production from high-moisture bio-wastes for agricultural enhancement and improving Tamil Nadu soils through microbiome engineering and carbon farming. He has served as principal investigator and co-investigator in national and international projects, significantly advancing strategies for decarbonization, resource recovery, and soil health.
His publications are internationally recognized, with recent contributions in high-impact journals such as Critical Reviews in Environmental Science and Technology, Scientific Reports, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and RSC Advances. Beyond research, he contributes to agricultural education and extension through curriculum development, technical consultancy, and technology transfer. He has been an active participant in organizing large-scale demonstration trials, farmer training, and awareness programs.
