Dr Rempei Suwa (PhD Sci.) is a senior researcher at JIRCAS specialising in forest ecology, mangrove ecology, ecosystem carbon dynamics and sustainable ecosystem management. In particular, his research focuses on understanding mangrove ecosystem functions and developing science-based approaches for conservation, restoration and climate change mitigation. He conducts international collaborative research, particularly in Southeast Asia, integrating field observations, carbon monitoring, biodiversity assessment and geospatial technologies. He also works to translate scientific knowledge into practical strategies for blue carbon management, climate policy and community-based conservation.
