Prakash Kumar Paudel

Dr Prakash K. Paudel is a Senior Scientist at the Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences (KIAS). He earned a PhD in the Biology of Ecosystems at the University of South Bohemia, the Czech Republic in 2012, and then worked as a Research Fellow at the Global Change Research Center of Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic and as a Senior Scientist at Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, Nepal. His recent research focuses on the interplay of traditional ecological knowledge, ecosystem services and disaster risk reduction. Dr Paudel authored several research papers in prestigious journals, including a widely used textbook in conservation biology in Nepal. Dr Paudel has led and participated in several ecological research projects funded by international organizations. He is also president of the Society for Conservation Biology Nepal, a national chapter of an international professional organization dedicated to conserving biological diversity—Society for Conservation Biology.
