Associate Professor Ooi Chien Wei is Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Monash University Malaysia. His research interests include bioprocess engineering, enzyme technology, microalgae biorefinery, biomass valorization and sustainable materials. He works on developing environmentally responsible processes for transforming biological resources into value-added products. His contribution to this project focuses on marine biotechnology, sustainable resource utilization and capacity building to enhance ecosystem resilience and support small-scale fishing communities across Asia.
