Prof. Dr. Norfilza Mohd Mokhtar is a prominent researcher in Molecular Medicine, currently serving as the Vice President for Research at Management and Science University (MSU). Her research expertise spans molecular medicine, clinical research, microbiome science, probiotics, cancer biology, and translational health research. More recently, her research has expanded into the emerging field of microplastics and human health, focusing on the detection and characterisation of microplastic exposure in human biological tissues and its potential implications for disease susceptibility. Her research excellence has also received international recognition, with Prof. Dr. Norfilza recently nominated among the Top 5% of Scientists globally under SciRank, reflecting the growing international visibility and impact of her scholarly contributions. With an established record of research leadership and scientific contributions, Prof. Dr. Norfilza is recognised for advancing interdisciplinary research that bridges laboratory science, clinical applications, innovation, and societal impact. As VP for Research, she also plays a strategic role in strengthening MSU’s research ecosystem, including research capacity building, Centres of Excellence, research funding, industry collaboration, international networking and the translation of research into meaningful institutional and societal impact.
