Nanise Tuqiri

Ministry of Fisheries Fiji

Mrs Nanise Kuridrani Tuqiri holds a Master of Environmental Management from the University of Queensland, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marine Science, and a BSc in Marine Science from the University of the South Pacific. Nanise is a Principal Fisheries Officer in the Fiji Ministry of Fisheries, supervising and coordinating programs on fisheries resource assessment, aquaculture research and development, economic evaluation, species management and conservation, coastal fisheries management and fisheries extension. She has significantly contributed to coastal fisheries management and conservation in Fiji by establishing protected areas to enhance fisheries and biodiversity and coordinating research, management and value chain analysis (VCA) of key fisheries. Nanise is also a member of the Australia Awards Women Leading and Influencing leadership program. Her research interest lies in climate change and its impact on coral reefs that support the coastal fisheries and livelihoods of coastal communities.
