Muhammad Basharat

International Waterlogging and Salinity Research Institute

Dr Basharat is currently, working as Addl. Chief Engineer (Drainage) IWASRI at Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his PhD (Engineering Hydrology) in 2012 from Engineering University, Lahore. He worked with WAPDA since June 1992 with one and half years of service in the Punjab Irrigation Department as Deputy Director (Groundwater), in an ADB funded project. He is regularly delivering lectures in universities and professional academies/institutes on various water-related issues. He has conducted research and development works for groundwater management and recharge, urban water supply sustainability, water policy, rationalization of canal water allocations and management in the Indus Basin Irrigation System of Pakistan. His areas of expertise include irrigation and drainage; surface and groundwater hydrology; hydrogeological investigations and groundwater monitoring, modelling; RS/GIS applications in land and water resources; engineering surveys, channel design, procurement of consultants. He has above 25 national and international research papers. Since his PhD in 2012, he has published 10 research articles in impact factor journals
