Mohan Geetha

University of Toyama

Geetha Mohan joined the Global Research Centre for Advanced Sustainability Science (GRASS), at the University of Toyama, as a Professor in May 2022. He holds his doctoral degree in Economics from India. Before joining the University of Toyama, Dr Mohan worked as a Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability; and visiting associate professor at the Institute for Future Initiatives at the University of Tokyo in Tokyo. He was an Assistant Professor and a project researcher at the Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science (IR3S), the University of Tokyo, Japan. He was also a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow at UNU-ISP (one of the institutes that merged to form the current UNU-IAS) from 2009 to 2011 in Japan. He has worked in various international and national institutes/organisations, such as Visiting Scientist at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), India; Research Analyst at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCEAR), India; Research Investigator at the Agro-Economic Research Centre (AERC), Andhra University, Ministry of Agriculture, India; and Field Supervisor at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), India.

Dr Mohan has more than one decade of experience in sustainability science studies, climate change adaptation, impact assessment, the economics of climate change, water management, and impact assessment. He also had rich research experiences in Asia and African countries, predominantly working on building sustainable societies by enhancing the resilience to climate and ecosystem changes, developing a significant possible countermeasure for sustainable livelihoods, agricultural production, and women empowerment.
