Ms Lhiana Reign S. Bañares is a Programme Officer at the APN Secretariat who joined on October 2026. In this role, she is handling the daily implementation, administration, and management of APN’s scientific activities, with a focus on APN’s Scientific Capacity Development Programme (CAPaBLE). She also provides support to APN’s knowledge management and APN’s Early Career Professionals in Global Change Research (APN-ECAP) initiatives, such as in Proposal Development Training Workshops (PDTWs).
Prior to joining APN, Reign worked as a staff for government research institutions, such as the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). She also served as a consultant for youth-oriented capacity-building activities hosted by the United Nations University. She holds a master’s degree in Sustainability Science from the University of Tokyo and a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in Geology from the University of the Philippines.
