Dr Lekhendra Tripathee is the President of Himalayan Environment Research Institute (HERI), Kathmandu, Nepal. Currently, he is also an Associate Researcher (Young Staff) at Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He earned his PhD degree in Physical geography from the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, CAS (ITPCAS). His research focuses on atmospheric aerosol and precipitation chemistry over the Himalayas and surrounding regions. His keen focus is to observe mercury (Hg), trace elements, organic and inorganic composition in air, water, soil and relate those pollutants in the environment with the health of the ecosystems understanding the fate, sources and transport and deposition mechanisms. He has led several projects and published over 80 scientific articles.
