Jing Xiang Chung

Dr. Chung Jing Xiang is a climate and physical oceanography scientist currently serving the faculty of Science and Marine Environment, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu as a senior lecturer. He obtained his PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (the National University of Malaysia) in 2019, working on topic related to regional climate downscaling in Southeast Asia. His works mainly surrounding the aspects of regional climate change and the climate processes occurring in Southeast Asia. He is also interested on topics related to physical oceanography, particularly on issues related to the interaction between climatic and oceanic processes. He has been involving with CORDEX Southeast Asia activities for more than 10 years, conducting regional climate downscaling of CMIP5 and CMIP6 GCMs, carrying out model analysis, and providing technical assistances to the community. Recently he is being appointed to serve as one of the Scientific Steering Group members to the CORDEX Southeast Asia representing Malaysia’s young scientists. Throughout his career, he has also actively collaborated with various local and international research institutions as well as national governmental agencies such as National Water Research Institute of Malaysia, Malaysian Meteorological Department, Malaysian Department of Environment and Japan Meteorological Research Institute. To date, he has published more than 30 scientific articles.
