Jamil Tajam

Dr. Jamil Tajam is the Deputy Head of UiTM Marine Research Station (MARES), Pulau Tuba, Langkawi. He obtained his undergraduate degree, B.Sc (Hons) Marine Science from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in the year of 2002. Apart from that, he furthered his studies on Master of Science in Marine Geochemistry and graduated in 2006 from Kolej Universiti Sains & Teknologi Malaysia (KUSTEM) which is now known as University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). He is currently teaching subjects related to oceanography, marine pollution and marine ecology. Moreover, he completed his PhD in the field of environment and development specifically on the sustainability of marine resources at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2022. He has conducted research work on marine habitat mapping, ocean acidification studies and sustainability of marine resources around Malaysian waters. Apart from that, he is also active in marine conservation programs around the northern waters of the Malacca Straits, especially at Langkawi, Payar and Sonsong Island.
