Prof Sivakumar Babu is currently serving as a full professor at the Geotechnical Engineering Division, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He earned his B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering, Sri Venkateswara University (Tirupati), M Eng degree in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Anna University (Madras), and PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore). He has served as a Scientist, Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi, Scientific Officer, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and Engineer, International Airports Authority of India. He was a Humboldt Fellow & Visiting Scientist, Germany and a Visiting Scholar, Purdue University, Lafayette, USA. His research interests include Risk and reliability applications in Geotechnical engineering, Geosynthetics and reinforced soil structures, Environmental Geotechnology, Fibers in geotechnical engineering, Earthquake Geotechnical engineering, Geotechnics for disaster mitigation. He is a co-recipient of the patent for the development of composite reinforcement techniques for use in soil engineering problems.
