Emma Rochelle-Newall

Emma Rochelle-Newall is Director of Research at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) at the UMR iEES-Paris, France (www.iees-paris.fr). She is currently Scientific Director of the Department of Ecology, Biodiversity and Functioning of Continental Ecosystems (Ecobio) at IRD. Her research examines how anthropogenic impacts, such as increased inorganic and organic inputs or changes in land use, modify the genetic and functional diversity of microbial communities, including pathogenic species, in order to understand how environmental degradation in developing countries impacts human health.
