Diong Jeong Yik is the Assistant Director in the Research and Technical Development Division, Malaysian Meteorological Department. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physics from the University Putra Malaysia in 2000 and a Master of Science in Oceanography from the National University of Malaysia in 2018. A major part of Diong’s current research activity focuses on the Asian Monsoon, tropical intraseasonal variability, and extreme weather in the monsoon and intraseasonal timescales. His other research interests include assessing downscaled regional climate models and ocean modeling. He also actively publishes in peer-reviewed international journals.
