Dr Chatchai Ratanachai is the Director of the Songkhla Lake Basin Research Center at Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand. He earned his PhD in Environmental Health Engineering from Northwestern University, USA, in 1984, where he was awarded both a Teaching and Research Assistantship. Before this, he completed a Diploma in Sanitary Engineering with Distinction from the Institute of Hydraulic and Sanitary Engineering in the Netherlands in 1976, supported by a Dutch Government Fellowship. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, under the Colombo Plan Scholarship. Dr Ratanachai has held several prominent positions at PSU, including Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Management and Vice President for Outreach and International Affairs. His research interests focus on environmental impact assessment, sustainable lake basin management and climate change adaptation.
