Mr Athula Karunanayake is the Permanent Representative (PR) of Sri Lanka with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Scientific Planning Group Member of APN, with experience in representing the Department of Meteorology (DOM), Sri Lanka, in meteorological/climatological forums nationally and internationally. Mr Athula Karunanayake, as the Director-General of DOM, also serves as the focal point to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as the DOM is the focal agency of IPCC in Sri Lanka. Mr Karunanayake has 30 years working experience in the field of weather forecasting and 10 years’ experience in climate change activities.
