Engaging in global change research: Experiences and lessons of APN-funded capacity development projects

Background and objectives

The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research is an intergovernmental network of 22 countries working towards an Asia-Pacific region that is successfully addressing the challenges of global change and sustainability. APN enables the investigation of changes in the environment through support for research and science-based response strategies and measures, effective linkages between science and policy, and scientific capacity development. A number of capacity development and regional research programs along the areas of climate change, climate change impacts, community resiliency and sustainability, among others, have been carried in the Region through the funding support of APN.

This INREM 2021 session under the theme Rural-Urban Linkages is titled “Engaging in global change research: Experiences and lessons of APN-funded capacity development projects” and will feature selected APN-funded capacity development projects, highlighting the experiences and lessons learned in the implementation of various capacity development initiatives. This session will also serve as a venue for the APN representative to discuss opportunities for collaborative regional research, scientific capacity development, and strengthening linkages between the science, policy and practitioner communities in the Asia-Pacific Region.
