Nur Azalina Suzianti Feisal

Management and Science University

Dr Nur Azalina Suzianti is the Head of MSU Centre for Climate Resilience and Strategy (M-CREST), Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine, a Master’s degree in Community Health from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and a PhD in Public Health from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her academic and research expertise is centred on environmental climate, environmental epidemiology, air quality, environmental exposure assessment, and climate-related health risks. Her research focuses particularly on the assessment of environmental stressors and their implications for human health, including air pollution, indoor air quality, airborne microorganisms, climate resilience, epidemiology and toxicology, and environmental health risk assessment. She has contributed to research examining respiratory and other health outcomes associated with environmental exposure among vulnerable populations and occupational groups. Dr Feisal has also developed research expertise in atmospheric microbiome monitoring. Her recent work contributed to the establishment of a baseline dataset on microbial communities in traffic-impacted urban air in the Klang Valley, Malaysia, using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. This work provides a foundation for expanding atmospheric microbiome research across Southeast Asia. As Project Leader, she leads a regional collaboration involving researchers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The project aims to strengthen regional capacity for harmonised airborne microbiome monitoring, integrate microbiome data with climate and environmental drivers, and improve understanding of potential implications for human health. Her broader research and leadership activities seek to translate environmental health evidence into climate-resilient strategies, policy-relevant knowledge, and practical solutions for communities in Southeast Asia.
